About Marty Filipowski
Live in Sydney and have completed five of the Oceans Seven swims to date, including the English Channel (2013 / just after my 50th birthday), the Catalina Channel (2015), the Cook Strait (2017 / the 100th crossing), the Strait of Gibraltar (2018) and the North Channel (2018 / swimmer #64). Have also done the first 20 Bridges swim around Manhattan (2016) and after that became the 11th Australian to earn the Triple Crown of open-water swimming. In Australia, I have done two solo South Head Roughwater swims from Bondi Beach to Watsons Bay, four solo Rottnest swims in Western Australia and a solo swim (that was not part of an organised event) from Palm Beach to Shelly Beach in the Sydney area. In Nov 2013, the Channel Swimming Association awarded me its Most Meritorious Swim trophy at its annual banquet in Dover, England.
